For Westerners, the Chinese horoscope can be a confusing thing. These horoscopes correspond to animals, rather than to the star signs most Westerners are used to. The Chinese believe that each person has the traits of an animal and that is decided by the year they were born in. For example, the year 2009 is the Year of the Ox in the Chinese calendar, and anyone born this year will have the sign of the Ox. Some animals in nature are more compatible than others are. For example, in nature the pig and the snake are enemies. If the snake doesn’t eat the pig, the pig tramples the snake. This translates in the Chinese horoscope as the partner who is the Snake will dominate over the one who is the Pig, leading to a one-sided relationship where the Pig is miserable. However, if the Pig is strong enough, it will manipulate things where it is in control and evens the odds. This relationship is one seen as very unhappy for both parties. The Dragon, even though it is a mythical beast, is very important to the Chinese horoscope. Dragons get along best with Rats or Monkeys. This is because Rats need someone who is courageous and strong, which are Dragons. Monkeys need someone who can keep up with them in intellect and again, this is the Dragon. These partners would be very comfortable together. However, Dragons should never pair off with Dog because they will not only irritate each other, but the Dragon will tire of Dog’s flighty ego and the Dog will nip at the Dragon’s heels until the relationship ends in a terrible fight. When looking at the Chinese horoscope, make sure you understand what animal you are and the traits that are assigned to that animal. Then look for another animal sign that will best suit you. There are charts you can easily find for free with this information. Finding your other horoscope half is more complicated in the Chinese horoscope since you must match up each animal’s strengths and weaknesses with another’s, but Chinese matchmakers have used this system for centuries with surprising success. |
